Kayak & Canoe Rentals

Flatwater Canoeing and Kayaking

You’ll love the variety of incredible paddling opportunities available to you from our docks in Genesee Valley Park.

Our headquarters is located on the Genesee River. Beyond simply kayaking and canoeing on the river, you can visit the Erie Canal (only 700 yards away!) and then enter Red Creek (another 200 yards east off of the canal), which is absolutely the  favorite destination for springtime trips, as well as the most popular location for school, Scout and other organized  groups. Black Creek is also accessible by paddling five kilometers south on the Genesee River.

All rental rates are per person. Rates for 2017 are as follows:
$20 for 2 hours of paddling. Additional hours are $6 each.
A half day pass (four hours) costs $32.
Ages 5 through 8 are free, with limited availability. Younger than age 5 aren’t permitted.

Our regular season dates of operation for 2017 are May 24th through September 4th.
Regular season hours are:
Monday through Friday, 11:00am – 8:00pm*
Saturday & Sunday, 10:00am – 6:00pm*
* The last outbound boats must leave our dock two hours before we close.

2017 Schedule and Rates

Our early season rentals will probably begin in early late April or early May. All early season paddling is done by appointment only. Aspects like water temperature, river flow rate, debris and weather are unpredictable in April and into part of May.

May and June are perfect times for school groups and other group outings. The likelihood of  seeing incredible wildlife in Red Creek is particularly good in mid-spring. The barn swallows alone (under and around a bridge) are worth coming for! We commonly see bald eagles, hawks, kingfishers, king birds, red-wing blackbirds, blue herons, green herons, muskrats, deer and more in the spring. River otters are occasionally sited. Beavers were not uncommon in  the spring of 2016, particularly slightly south of our location on the river.

Our REGULAR season dates of operation for 2017 are May 25th through September 4th.
Monday – Friday, 11:00am – 8:00pm*
Saturday – Sunday, 10:00am – 6:00pm*
* The final outbound boats must leave our dock two hours before our closing time for the day.

GWC’s fall livery season will begin after the Labor Day weekend. Except for appointments and group events, we will probably be open for rentals on Saturdays and Sundays only through the end of September.
