Genesee Waterways Center has a membership base of rowers and paddlers who take advantage of our facilities and equipment on a regular basis. We are conveniently located in the City of Rochester on the Genesee River, only 500 yards North of the river’s intersection with the Erie Canal.
Our boathouses in Genesee Valley Park are home to dedicated recreational and competitive rowers and scullers. We are also home to the crews of the University of Rochester Crew Club, Mercy Crew, Friends of Scholastic Crew (McQuaid) and CrossCurrents Minority Rowing. Our members and the clubs bring excitement to our community through their energy and the various events that are hosted at our facility.
At Lock 32 Whitewater Park, paddlers of all ages come to practice whitewater kayaking skills and play in the holes, making them better paddlers. Through our whitewater kayaking courses, our instructors have established a junior boating community in Rochester that is one of the best in the nation. Being the only man-made whitewater facility in New York State, Lock 32 Whitewater Park gives boaters the advantage of being able to paddle “in their own backyard”.
