Course Description: John Bernfield leads this clinic for rowing coaches of all levels. As an athletic trainer, rowing & sports performance coach, and rower with extensive exercise science experience, John Bernfield has a unique background that enables him to analyze rowing and break it down into its key components. Like many coaches, he spends hours studying an athlete's successful execution, asking why and how the athletes achieved those results. Bernfield’s knowledge of mechanics enables him to draw from proven training techniques to efficiently train the athlete while reducing his or her chance for injury. This Coaches' Clinic provides coaches with the knowledge and skills to train athletes with the goal of achieving the greatest functional movement while minimizing their risk of injury.
Course Format: The morning session will combine a classroom seminar and practical skills. In the afternoon, coaches will have the opportunity to put their newly learned teaching techniques into action at the Pittsford Indoor Rowing Center's tanks. Analysis & feedback will be provided to each individual. Lunch is included at the GWC Boathouse.
