Tom Kosanke (President)

Tom Kosanke, President, Genesee Waterways Center.

Tom joined the GWC Board of Directors in 2016 and currently serves as its’ President.  Tom also serves as President of Mercy Crew and a member of Our Lady of Mercy Sports Boosters Club.  Tom is an avid rower and cyclist with a strong commitment to community involvement.  He is an active member of Irondequoit Rotary where he served as a past President and Treasurer.   Tom also served as a Paramedic and Director of Operations for Irondequoit Ambulance for over 10 years.

Tom is originally from Detroit, Michigan, relocating to Rochester, NY to begin a career in Electrical Engineering with Eastman Kodak.  Tom is currently WW Director of Purchasing for Carestream Health.

Tom and his wife Marcia have 3 teenage daughters and resides in Penfield.

Alex Macur (Vice President)

Alex joined the GWC board of directors in September of 2009. He then volunteered on the Executive Committee as Secretary from September 2009 through December of 2014 and as Vice President from January of 2015 through the present.

Since fall of 2008 he has volunteered on the steering committee of the FLOW Paddling Club where he supports membership and communications.

He has been working at Excellus BCBS as a Data Architect since Fall of 2005. He has been Senior Software Engineer supporting the on-line Medical Library MD Consult 1995 to 2005. From 1983 through 1994 he developed software for digital signal processing, 2d and 3d visualization, and image processing of NMR Spectroscopic and MRI data.

Alex holds a doubled major in Chemistry and Computer Science at SUNY Oswego.

In his free time, he white water kayaks during the summer and GS Ski Races during the winter.

He resides in the Village of Webster since fall of 1997.

Holly Evans

Holly Evans has been a board member and the Treasurer of Genesee Waterways Center since 2015. As a founding member of the Our Lady of Mercy Crew Team, Holly rowed out of GWC from 2005-2008. While at Our Lady of Mercy she was the coxswain for the program’s first State Champion boat and earned the program’s first college athletic scholarship. Holly went on to be a coxswain for Mercyhurst University in Erie, PA where she was a DII NCAA Championship runner up in 2011 and NCAA Championship finalist in 2012. After graduating college with an accounting major, Holly coached for McQuaid Jesuit and was a coxswain for GWC while attending the Rochester Institute of Technology for her MBA. Holly holds a CPA and currently serves as the Assistant Director of Finance for Pittsford CSD. She currently resides in Henrietta with her husband, Brendon, who is the Vice President for Friends of Scholastic Crew, former University of Rochester and McQuaid Jesuit men’s coach and an avid Masters Rower.

Andrew Katz

Andrew Katz is a New Orleans native and an entrepreneur who has helped start up five companies, in addition to Hart’s Local Grocers in downtown Rochester. Katz began his career in SaaS where he helped grow a team of five to a team of 40, servicing nearly 500 higher education institutions around the world. He is currently working on a new startup called Sagestone that specializes in healthcare consulting. Whitewater and flatwater kayaking are his passion when he is not serving the Board in his roles of Strategic Planning and Marketing.

Greg Irwin

Greg is an avid entrepreneur and startup enthusiast. He is currently working on a startup called Sagestone that helps doctors become more efficient with their electronic medical records. Outside of work, Greg can be found on the soccer field refereeing matches all over the country or on the water. However, if he hits rapids, he is more likely to be in the water. Greg joined the GWC board to help with community outreach and communications and is enjoying being a part of the growth the organization has seen in the few short months he has been a part of it.
