Genesee Waterways Center is the City of Rochester’s non-profit partner for all things rowing, sculling, canoeing and kayaking. Our primary location is in Genesee Valley Park, on Elmwood Avenue. Our beautiful location on the Genesee River makes rowing accessible for residents of the City of Rochester, as well as nearby towns of Brighton, Pittsford, Fairport, Henrietta, Penfield, Irondequoit, Greece, Webster and Chili.

Our large, city-owned facility features a new exterior paint job, a freshly paved and striped parking lot, excellent exterior lighting, well maintained bathrooms, a multi-purpose room,  offices, and  over a million dollars of rowing equipment stored within three boathouses.

Our rowers train at three terrific facilities in the winter. If your goals are fitness, fun, learning and (hopefully)  being out on the water in the Spring/Summer, GWC is the place to be.
During the spring/summer/fall, we offer on-the-water classes for new rowers learning to row team boats (“sweep rowing”) as well as beginning to scull in individual boats (“sculling”).
Our coaches are tremendously experienced, knowledgable and enthusiastic, including our Director of Rowing, Ethan Curren, who is one of the National Team coaches for the USA!
