You’ll love the variety of incredible paddling opportunities available to you from our docks in Genesee Valley Park.
Our headquarters is located on the Genesee River. Beyond simply kayaking and canoeing on the river, you can visit the Erie Canal (only 700 yards away!) and then enter Red Creek (another 200 yards east off of the canal), which is absolutely the favorite destination for springtime trips, as well as the most popular location for school, Scout and other organized groups. Black Creek is also accessible by paddling five kilometers south on the Genesee River.
May and June are perfect times for school groups and other group outings. The likelihood of seeing incredible wildlife in Red Creek is particularly good in mid-spring. The barn swallows alone (under and around a bridge) are worth coming for! We commonly see bald eagles, hawks, kingfishers, king birds, red-wing blackbirds, blue herons, green herons, muskrats, deer and more in the spring. River otters are occasionally sited. Beavers were not uncommon in the spring of 2016, particularly slightly south of our location on the river.
